I have been wanting to try my hands on making a wreath for a long time. I don't know what was stopping me. I even have a separate board on Pinterest where I pin all kind of Wreath ideas. I finally decided I had to try making one this fall and I did it. Let's see how.
Materials Used:
Hot glue gun
Glue dots(Optional)
Gold and yellow acrylic paint(Optional)
Cardboard (Optional)
Scissors
A small wire for hanging
Step 1: Use two glue dots to secure the end of the burlap ribbon to the wreath form at the back and start covering the wreath form. Make sure to overlap the ribbon every time you wind. Tighten and pull the ends to make the burlap ribbon fit snuggly to the wreath form. When you reach the end use two more glue dots to secure and trim off the ribbon.
Step 2: Bend a small wire to form a semi-circle. Bend a small portion at the ends perpendicular to the semi-circle and use a drop of hot glue at the ends. Poke them at the back of the wreath. This loop is used to hang the wreath. You can also use ribbon to hang the wreath.
Step 3: Take the pinecones and arrange them at the center of the wreath as shown. Use hot glue to glue them to the wreath.
Step 4: Now it is time to glue the burlap fall leaves to the wreath form. Take big leaves and arrange them in such a way to create a base layer, covering the whole wreath. Use a dot of hot glue to glue them. Then take small leaves and glue them covering the rest of the wreath. Use only dots of glue here and there to secure the leaves to give more organic look instead of a glued look.
Step 5: To enhance the beauty of the pinecones, I added a bit of gold paint to the edges of the pine cones. But it is totally up to you. Also, I made the letter "S" using DIY textured cardboard post I shared last week. Painted the "S" in the yellow acrylic paint and dry brushed gold paint to add more detail. You can leave it plain if you prefer. That's it. The fall wreath is now ready to hang on your door to welcome "FALL".
Here is how it looks without the letter "S"
What do you think of this Fall Wreath? I really love how this burlap fall leaves look. The gold paint on the edges of the pine cones adds an elegant touch to the wreath. Have you ever tried making a wreath? If not, you should. I really had fun making this and I hope my DIY fall wreath gave you the inspiration to make your own. Share your comments below.
