Quick & Easy DIY pineapple costume for babies

If you are following me on Instagram you might have already seen the pictures of this DIY costume and step by step process I shared last year on my Insta stories. Back then there was no archive option on Instagram so I thought I should document it on my blog. As this is the perfect time for Halloween, I am sharing this quick and easy pineapple costume I made for my 4-month-old son last year. Let's get to the details.

Materials Required :
Yellow Onesie
Fabric markers
Felt sheets in green shades
Any green fabric for making the headband
1/2" inch elastic
Sewing machine or Needle & thread for hand sewing
Fabric glue
Ruler

Step 1: Draw vertical and horizontal lines forming one-inch squares using a brown fabric marker and ruler.

Step 2: Draw an inverted curved "V" at one corner of each square(as shown) to mimic the pineapple spikes and shade the inside with the brown marker.

Step 3: Shade the top corners of the squares using the green marker as shown below. Now the onesie part is done.

Step 4: Now comes the crown part. To make the crown, first, sew an elastic headband. You can follow step 1 to step 4 in the DIY bumble bee camera lens buddy tutorial to make the headband. Instead 4" width you can take 2" width and the elastic size depending upon the size of the baby's head circumference. I measured the elastic length less than 3" of baby's head circumference.

Step 5: Once the headband is done. Now, Cut the crown pieces on the green felt. Draw the shape of one single crown leaf in a paper and cut that to use as a template. Draw the outline on the felt and cut it out. Flip the template on the other side and repeat the same process on a different shade of felt. Cut the template a little smaller and repeat the process until you get enough pieces for form a crown.

Step 6: Glue the pieces in such a way that one overlaps the other as shown below using a fabric glue.

Step 7: Glue the crown onto the elastic headband. And the costume is ready.

What do you think about this costume? Isn't it really simple to do? Since he was too small to go out for Halloween I was thinking whether I should make him wear a costume. Then I thought I shouldn't regret later so ended up making this costume. I made him wear it and we gave candies to the kids who came trick or treating in our apartment.😉 Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and share it with your family and friends who might find this helpful.
